On December 3rd, Cincinnati’s chapter of SHPE hosted its networking meeting at GE Aviation. The keynote speaker was Ms. Jeanne Rosario, Vice President and General Manager at GE Aviation Engineering, who shared her experiences and views on importance of volunteering and support for STEM. Jorge Seda, the President of SHPE Cincinnati, presented STEM initiatives for Hispanic children in the area, specifically the Robotics competition and the Science Night event. He also presented the extended Executive Board of Directors. They've learn more about STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) topics, and about the opportunities at the college level in the STEM area. The goal of Noche de Ciencias is to bring awareness to K-12 students and parents to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), college opportunities, scholarship information, and resources . The event is a 3 to 4 hour event where students will be engage on STEM hand-oh activities while parent are engage in workshops that introduce them to STEM and provide them awareness about college, and information about financial aid. Who is our audience? Latin students in high school and middle school, and their parents.
