Maribel Cortes



Maribel is a GE Aviation Sr Technical Project Manager working on an important migration project across the whole engineering community. Born and raised in Mexico City, Cortes Conde holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from the Polytechnic Institute in Mexico. Her career in a male dominated industry includes managing outsourcing IT operations with teams in Mexico, India, China and USA. Some of the clients in US included GE Aviation, GE Energy, GE Transportation, Anheuser Busch and Mitel Networks in Canada.
Maribel’s passion for education moved her to support the Cincinnati Ohio Hispanic Community with volunteering work at the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, supporting organizations such as Su Casa, LULAC and Santa Maria etc.
She is an active member of the GE Aviation Hispanic Forum and the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, which have been a platform to support Cincinnati Public school kids during the pandemic, where she led the initiative to provide refurbished laptops to ESL students within the school district.
Maribel has 2 daughters, Sophia Munoz(16) and Tamara Munoz(14) who attend Walnut Hills High School and is married to Walter Munoz, who is also an active member supporting the Hispanic community. .

Elizabeth Castellanos


Elizabeth is a leader with more than 20 years of experience driving organizational change. She is currently working for Pentair as the Global EHS Director, in her previous experience she collaborated for Fortune 500 companies such as General Motors, Cemex, PepsiCo and Heineken. She has a strong track record of achievement as evidence of his ability to provide strategic direction and integrate safety, health and the environment into the organization's core value system.
Her experience in the EHS field covers all areas of the business: manufacturing, distribution, warehousing; commercial and administrative areas, extensions and new constructions. She has served in executive positions in Mexico, Europe and the United States, as a national, regional and global leader. She has been a coach for multidisciplinary teams around the world. She is recognized for her passion and commitment to drive transformational change in organizations.
Castellanos is an Engineer and is currently studying an MBA from the University of Barcelona, has published articles and has been a speaker and panelist at an international level on topics such as: safety in multicultural environments, the role of the safety professional, leadership, and diversity and inclusion.

Tomas Mendez


Tomas, born in Hato Rey, Puerto Rico, attended Marquette University and graduated with a B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering. He worked a mix of sales and structural design jobs before joining Duke Energy, where he has held roles as a Project Engineer in Distribution Design, and is currently the Distribution Planning Engineer for the Downtown A.C. Secondary Network. He also oversees Capacity Planning in the Central West area of Cincinnati. Tomas also holds a number of roles as President of Student with Special Smiles, Chair of Latinos Energizing Diversity (a Duke Energy employee resource group), the United Way fundraising committee, the Artswave fundraising committee, liaison between Duke Energy and the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Diversity Lead in Duke Energy’s Midwest Delivery Organization, member of the American Red Cross Diversity Committee, and volunteer for fundraising work at the Great American Ballpark.

Oscar Morataya



Oscar Morataya has BS in Mechanical Engineering, MS in Aerospace Engineering and MBA and currently, he is a Senior Staff Technical Product Manager at GE Aviation, in the digital organization, responsible for the strategic roadmap of an engineering software application platform, setting priorities for a global team and meeting CMMC platform compliance.  At GE, he has held multiple roles in project management, engineering operations and application release management.  
Outside of GE, he has experience in small business consulting and he is the founder of SNAV Inc, a software development and services startup based out of Cincinnati. Most recently, he launched to empower homeowners to repair and remodel their home with confidence!  He currently leads a team in India to work on the product roadmap of the application.  
Above all, Oscar is a very involved and proud father of two highly energetic kids, Emma (9yr) and Seth (8yr).  He cooks, does laundry, helps with homework, volunteers at school, and much more.  In his spare time, he does diy remodeling projects, enjoys running, working out, and wants to travel more again!

Michael Beck



Michael Beck holds MBA from Vienna University of Economics in Austria and from Kent State University in Ohio. He spent 11 years working or NCR in Dayton in various international assignments, and is currently President of He served on various Boards, among them Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Cincinnati, LULAC Ohio, Ohio Hispanic Chambers of Commerce, and SWORWIB. He received Nuestra Familia Award from Ohio Commission on Hispanic/Latino Affairs, Community Award from Links, and twice Spirit of Cincinnati Award from Cincinnati CVB. For the last several years he serves as project coordinator for Open Source CMS (Content Management System), which has received several international awards.

Bianca McCartt



Bianca McCartt has been with GE Aviation since 2004 working in various roles as a design engineer and technical program leader, and currently leads technical capability development for the Aviation Supply Chain.
Bianca holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Kentucky. She joined SHPE as a professional in 2018 as a SWE-SHPE Joint Member, and has served as the co-lead of the SWE Latinos Affinity Group, and as an FY21-FY23 SWE Senator. Additionally, she is passionate about mentoring early career engineers and fostering an inclusive environment for all.
Bianca is originally from the Lexington, KY area with both Costa Rican and South African heritage.


Chapter Advisor
Jorge Seda



Jorge was born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico. He received a BSAE from Saint Louis University and a MSME from the University of Cincinnati. He worked at GE Aviation for over 39 years and retired in 2009. He is a licensed professional engineer in the state of Ohio, taught engine design courses at GE Aviation for19 years, and holds fourteen US patents. He has been involved with Latino/Hispanic initiatives for over 18 years and co-founded GE Aviation’s Hispanic Forum. As part of GE’s initiative to increase diverse employees, he recruited for over 15 years at the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers National Conferences, was GE’s Campus Recruiting Leader for the University of Puerto Rico - Mayaguez campus as well as its Industrial Advisory Board member. In over 10 years, his team recruited over 350 Hispanics students to GE. Jorge is co-founder of the Greater Cincinnati Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF) Gala. This event has raised over $1.4M+ and awarded over 450 scholarships to Hispanic students in the Greater Cincinnati area and adjacent states. It has been recognized by the national HSF for its Best Practices. Jorge is a recipient of the 2004 Ohio Governor’s Distinguished Hispanic Ohioan, 2007 Santa Maria Community Service Outstanding award for promoting diversity in the workplace and community, 2008 LULAC Corporate Excellence awards and 2015 Saint Louis University Parks College of Engineering, Aviation, and Technology Alumni Merit recipient. Jorge co-founded the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers Cincinnati Professional Chapter and served as president from its inception in 2010 through 2013; he now serves as advisor. He has served as a member of the Board of Directors of The Franciscan Ministries for the last 4 years and the Board of Directors of Santa Maria Community Services for 5 years and now serves as Vice Chair.
