SHPE Cincinnati and the Hispanic Chamber Cincinnati Foundation celebrates High School students succeeding in STEM Careers!

We would like to congratulate Monica Escobedo Barahona, a recent graduate of Winton Woods HS, who received a "Star Award" Recognition. She graduated with Honors and will attend University of Cincinnati to study Computer Science and MBA. 

She received a laptop from our Device Drive 2021

We are pleased to announce that Bianca McCartt is joining the Board as the new VP of Membership. 

Bianca McCartt has been with GE Aviation since 2004 working in various roles as a design engineer and technical program leader, and currently leads technical capability development for the Aviation Supply Chain.

Bianca holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Kentucky. She joined SHPE as a professional in 2018 as a SWE-SHPE Joint Member, and has served as the co-lead of the SWE Latinos Affinity Group, and as an FY21-FY23 SWE Senator. Additionally, she is passionate about mentoring early career engineers and fostering an inclusive environment for all.

Bianca is originally from the Lexington, KY area with both Costa Rican and South African heritage.

We are pleased to announce that Elizabeth Castellanos is joining the Board as the new VP of Corporate Relations. 

Elizabeth is a leader with more than 20 years of experience driving organizational change. She is currently working for Pentair as the Global EHS Director, in her previous experience she collaborated for Fortune 500 companies such as General Motors, Cemex, PepsiCo and Heineken. She has a strong track record of achievement as evidence of her ability to provide strategic direction and integrate safety, health and the environment into the organization's core value system.

Her experience in the EHS field covers all areas of the business: manufacturing, distribution, warehousing; commercial and administrative areas, extensions and new constructions. She has served in executive positions in Mexico, Europe and the United States, as a national, regional and global leader. She has been a coach for multidisciplinary teams around the world. She is recognized for her passion and commitment to drive transformational change in organizations.

Castellanos is an Engineer and is currently studying an MBA from the University of Barcelona, has published articles and has been a speaker and panelist at an international level on topics such as: safety in multicultural environments, the role of the safety professional, leadership, and diversity and inclusion.
